I don’t know if it’s the 12 weeks of hormone-fueled growth, the change in weather, the fact that he’s now officially THIRTEEN, or the cute blonde painter that made the difference, but check this out:
Approximately 12 weeks ago, Jake came with us to an autism resource fair. He allowed someone to paint his face for perhaps the first time ever. It was a nose and some whiskers. He was very excited! We were so proud of this little milestone.
Flash forward to July 10, 2015. He allowed his crush to paint his face at our town’s annual Summerfest. This was no slack job, either. This was full on “tiger face” as Jake’s been calling it. Jake’s been going on and on since then about even getting his “mustache” painted! Crazy kid.
I can’t tell you how nice it is to get this kind of support and validation from others in our community. It tells me not only that Jake is cared about, but that other people are noticing the changes in him as well.
If anyone has any Jake stories they’d like to share, leave a comment down below. I’d love to hear them!
