Black Friday/Cyber Monday

My kids have never been the kids who need the “IT” item.

Maybe they’re just too young.  Maybe I’ve just been lucky so far.

Beth and I used to attend the Black Friday craziness because it was good sport.  I am an Olympic-level people watcher, and I enjoy the social experiment of being overly friendly in a situation where everyone’s geared up to be confrontational.  I love holding doors for people, handing items to ladies who can’t quite reach, and saying, “no no, after you…”  It throws people off, and I enjoy their facial expressions.

Anyway, I’ve never gone out with a blood-lust attitude.

I asked my Dad, and he said things got a bit hairy back in the mid-80s when he HAD to get a Cabbage Patch doll for my kid sister.  BTW – he got one.

My question is:

Have things every gotten ugly for you on Black Friday?  And if so, what item did you HAVE TO HAVE?

Nope. We do cyber Monday. Stay at home and order online. OR we shop the smaller stores here on Saturday.
I was, however, an employee at Kmart for 2 years during Black Friday. I loved it *I always requested to work the moment the doors opened til as late as they’d have me*. Loved watching people. Loved seeing how crazy they were, how emphatically they could state that they “needed that!”. Loved being asked “Is there more out back” when I had just said “We are out.” I also liked how busy it was, the day zoomed by.
