I’d Love Your Opinion

Tell Your Friends

I love trolling the internet looking for new and thought-provoking things.  Usually, I just need a temporary distraction from the real world, and a stupid meme or cool picture is enough to give me my cyber-fix.

Two videos have made themselves known to me recently, and I’d love your opinion on each of them.

Video #1

This video won the award for “Best Director” at the 2013 Who’s There Film Challenge.  Much like the second video, I hold no claim to its ownership, and have copied and pasted it directly from Youtube.com.  It’s a horror short.  It’s less than three minutes long, and is intentionally dark, so it’s best watched with sound up, in full screen, and in a dark or dim room.  I found it brilliant, Beth found it disturbing, and Liv gave up after 90 seconds.  Enjoy!

Video #2

This video wins the internet in one sense, in that it’s been mocked and parodied a million times already.  This being a family friendly site (and many of the parodies NOT fitting that mold), I’ll let you seek them out on your own, should you desire.  As of this writing, it’s been watched well over 65 million times, so I imagine you’ve at least heard of it.  This video loses in that it’s supposed to be an advertisement for a clothing company, WREN.  Despite the fact that I’ve seen it a few times, and learned what the gimmick was, I still had to look up which company just now.

So now that you’ve seen them, tell me what you think in the comments below.  Once I get some reader feedback, I’ll give you my full report.  I don’t want to sway anyone’s opinion too much beforehand.

  1. Is that really all there is to it because that’d be flagberbasting.

The first one was kinda scarey at first but I thought the ending was funny.
The second one … I thought the same sex people were more personal and comfortable in their approach and their demeanor.

PS I think the reason I see the ending as comical is because I knew something was going to jump out at the end so I was ready for it.

      1. Nancy, I agree. Initially, I was really impressed with the whole Speilberg-esque nature of it. You never saw the shark in Jaws until well over halfway through the movie. The drama was in the actors’ reactions and facial expressions. It was in what was going through your head, not what you saw on the screen. Then, BAM!! you get smacked with a silly looking “ghoul” and the film’s over.

    1. I was impressed by how intimate some people got with each other. I don’t want to take away anything from the intimacy of kissing, but some people went much further than was necessary. I guess it brought out the voyeur in me – I was really taken in.
