A most excellent thing happened yesterday (and not just the dance recital, more on that later).
I received a tweet from the Autism Society of America saying that they like my blog, and we’re going to share it with their followers!
A little back story: I work 7 days/week most weeks and started documenting our story and my thoughts for two reasons –
1. Spread accurate information in a positive way to not only educate people about autism, but to show that humor makes everything easier.
2. Eventually generate enough income from BigCalfGuy to cut back (or eliminate) my weekend job, so I can spend more time with Beth and the kids.
Back to Autism Society if America. They have 44,500 followers on Twitter. They only follow 675 people, and I’m one of them (how cool is that?). The impact of them sharing my site with roughly 45k people is potentially awesome!
So here’s what happened: ASA shared my site. Autism Plus UK retweeted. They have 29,000 followers. Toronto Parent retweeted to their 2,000 followers, and American Frame favorited. So, for those uninitiated to Twitter, the moral of the story is this: the existence and positive sharing of BigCalfGuy went out to over 75,000 people yesterday!
How cool is that?
